I will remember this night for the rest of my life.
I was sitting in my parents condo in VA beach, watching SNL on Netflix, when all of the sudden, this horrible, waling siren noise fills the whole place. I freaked out and put on my shoes and started to leave.
When I opened the door, there was a dude standing out in the outdoor corridor where the entrances to two other units are. At first, I thought that he was leaving like me. But then I noticed that he was trying unlock his door. He was wobbling and stumbling and dropping his keys. I was thinking "aw, here is this poor drunk guy and he must have accidentally pulled the fire alarm". Then...he dropped his keys for the thousandth time and started to get really....really angry. He started banging on the door with his fists and and flailing his arms everywhere. I backed up into the doorway and watched as he started banging on everything he could get his hands on and then pulled the fire alarm again. I started to get super scared so I closed the door behind me and ran down the stairwell that was right next to me.
When I got downstairs, firefighters were arriving. I just kind of hung back and let them do their thing until I saw the guy sneaking out of the beach side entrance/exit of this building. I felt a lot better when I heard them talking about the man because I was afraid of being responsible for some poor guy getting in trouble for one drunken mistake. The condo manager got here and I asked him to give me a call if the dude came back and headed back up stairs.
Around 15 minutes later, my phone rings. It was the manager and he said that the guy had just returned and I run to the peephole that has a perfect view of the corridor. I saw him get back to his door and begin to try to unlock it again. He kept dropping his keys again and getting more and more angry.
Then...and this is where it gets really freaky....
Then....he started to walk right. toward. me.
Just as I started to get the eery sensation that he can see me through the door....everything went dark. I don't mean like normal, nighttime dark. Pitch. Black.
I screamed and I started running toward the back of the condo, bumping into everything. I could hear people outside screaming and yelling and I started to realize that the whole street was dark. There was a black out in the whole town...in the middle of me freaking out about this crazy, angry drunk man. How does that happen?!?! It was the scariest thing ever....ever ever.
By the time I made it back to the peephole, the guy was gone.
We still don't know where he is. Is that spooky or what?

Oh that is so scary! Get some pepper spray or mace. I'll be thinking about you tonight! X
ReplyDeleteI really wished I'd had some that night! Scariest night ever.
DeleteHoly crap, that sounds like the plot of a horror movie or something!
ReplyDeleteRight?! The blackout sent me over the edge lol.
DeleteOh my gosh, that is so scary! Thank goodness your condo manager and the firefighters knew about him, because it would have been awful to have to report him and then worry that he knew you had reported him. I'm thinking about you tonight - maybe sleep with a chair up against the door, so if someone bangs it the chair falling will wake you up {I totally do this when I'm in my flat alone}?
ReplyDeleteI said the same thing! I had a heavy cart thing that we use to carry luggage propped against the door haha. Same idea.
Deleteyikes, people freak me out, when are you going back home?
ReplyDeleteMe too! Haha. I left last night to come hom in time for work today. I was scared even as I was leaving!
DeleteThat sounds like something right out of a horror movie! Very scary. Glad you're ok.
ReplyDeleteI know! I couldn't believe it when the lights went out....I kept thinking "this is NOT happening" haha. Thank god it all simmered down.
DeleteThat's terrifying! Ugh I would never want to be home alone after that. Once, this drunk guy walked into my boyfriend's apartment, but luckily he didn't get crazy, just backed down the stairs feeling stupid. It was still a bit creepy though.
ReplyDeleteOmg! That would definitely freak me out! I'm so glad I've never done anything like that while I was drunk. Good thing that dude didn't freak out.
DeleteThat is so creepy!! I would've freaked out!! stay safe! xx
